It seems the measure of a Hollywood star can be judged by the size of their bodyguard.

And they don't come much bigger than Christina Aguilera's new chief of security.

The 29-year-old proved her A-list status as she walked around the Los Angeles set of her new film with her burly protector in tow.

Fellow pop stars Beyoncé and Britney Spears are also known to employ enormous bodyguards, so at least she is in good company.

Christina was filming scenes for Burlesque, which sees her play a small-town girl called Ali who flees home for the bright lights of Los Angeles.

After landing a job as a cocktail waitress in a burlesque club, she soon aspires to become one of the sexy dancers on stage.

She stars alongside Cher, who is making a return to film for the first time in over a decade playing the club owner.

'That alone has been a huge blessing,' Christina has said of working with the singer. 'I love her. I love Cher.'

Christina also says the film is perfect for her first big foray into the film scene.

'I love the idea of burlesque,' she recently told U.S. show Entertainment Tonight. 'I've always been intrigued by it and inspired by it, so how much better can it get than a whole movie about that world?'

Cher on the other hand, signed on to the project with some trepidation.
'It's a hard job,' the 63-year-old has said. 'You get up at 5am and you try to look good. all these girls are like one third my age and that's rough.'

Burlesque is due for release later this year.
